Most important rules
  • Keep it decent, everyone has to go to work the next day.
  • As far as possible the rules of normal 11 a side football apply.
  • The referee has the final decision.
  • No sliding allowed unless there’s no other player nearby.
  • In case of a not dangerous sliding a indirect free kick is given, if it was dangerous it is an direct free kick.
  • As an exceptance the keeper is allowed to make non dangerous slidings.
  • Ball out results in a throw in.
  • Ball out the backline means the keeper throws in or the opposing team has a corner kick.
  • Penalties are taken 9 meters away from the goal line.
  • There is a 7 meter distance from free kicks.
  • The keeper cannot touch the ball with its hands when passed back by a team player.
  • Scoring is allowed from every position;
  • Free kicks are allowed directly at goal, unless the referee says differently.
  • A team that shows up more than 15 minutes at the kick off loses the game by default  5 – 0.
  • A team needs  to have at least 4 players to be allowed to play a game.
  • To prevent injuries Footy strongly recommends that shin pads are worn.
Penalties
  • It is a inter-company football competition. Fun of playing is the most important. Injuries have to be prevented.
  • If a player plays too rough, he/she will get a warning. If this happens again, the referee can decide to give him/her a yellow card, which means a 3 minute time penalty for that player (or until the opponent scores a goal)
  • If a red card follows the player is sent off. The player that got a red card is also excluded from playing the next game.
  • The referee has the final say.
Man of the Match
  • The referee decides who is the Man of The Match for each game. He or she is rewarded with a free drink.
  • The player with most Man of the Match tokens in a season wins an extra prize.
Special Rules Indoor
  • At Footy Indoor every team has to submit a players list with a maximum of 12 players.
  • If a team is short on players they must contact Footy in advance to arrange extra players.

  • Playing enjoyment comes before all else in Footy competitions.
  • Shin pads are compulsory except for the keeper. They are available behind the bar.
  • Teams must arrive 15 minutes before kick off. If a team is 10 minutes late they begin 1-0 down. If they are 15 minutes late they lose 5-0.
  • For 5v5 each team must field four outfield players and a goalkeeper on the pitch at any one time
  • Substitutions are unlimited during the game, can only be made when the ball is dead and only with the Referees consent.
  • Teams may change their goalkeeper but the game will not stop for keepers to swap gloves. Keepers may only be changed when the ball is not in play
Most Important Rules
  • Only the defending goalkeeper is allowed to touch the ball inside the goal area
  • An outfield player gaining or seeking to gain an advantage by entering his own goal area will have a penalty kick awarded against his team.
  • An outfield player entering his opponent’s penalty area will be penalized. The game will be re-started from the goalkeeper.
  • A goalkeeper gaining or seeking to gain an advantage by leaving his area or by playing the ball when it is outside the area will have a penalty awarded against his team.
  • A teammate receiving the ball from the keeper may not return the ball directly to him – the ball must first be touched by another teammate or an opponent. A free kick will be awarded against the offending team from the place where the defending player returned the ball
  • The ball must not be played deliberately above board height. An indirect free kick will be awarded if a player plays a deliberate high ball. If the ball accidentally bounces up off someone and goes too high/into the netting and comes back onto the field then the game will continue. If it stays out of play then a freekick will be awarded against the team that touched it last UNLESS that player was the goalkeeper. In this case play is restarted by the same keeper
  • The ball must never be played with the head even if it is below board height. A free kick will be awarded for infringement.
  • No slide tackles are allowed. Infringement of this rule will lead to a free kick being awarded against the offending players’ team.
  • Professional fouls will be penalized with a penalty and the guilty player may face disciplinary action.
  • All free kicks will be direct with the exception of over board height which is in-direct.
  • Opposition players must be at least two meters from where any free-kick is taken. If opposing players do not retreat the required two meters the kick may be moved forward one meter. If a free kick is awarded on or near the goal area it can be moved up to two meters backwards to allow defenders to be two meters from the ball.
  • The Goal keeper must be on the goal line when a penalty is being taken. Players may only take one step whilst taking a penalty.
Yellow and Red Cards
  • If a player receives a yellow card then he will be sent off for 2 minutes (or until the opponent scores a goal).
  • If a player receives a red card (or 2 yellows) then he is sent off for the rest of the game. Players receiving a red card are banned for a week.
  • Any incidences of violence will see the player immediately suspended and Footy may ban the player from all competitions.
  • The referee must be treated with respect and his decisions must be accepted.
